Raymond A. Bergstrom

Raymond A. Bergstrom, 88, passed away at North Valley Hospital on Feb. 25 after a brief illness.

He was born in Kalispell on Dec.  4, 1925 to Rudolph and Alma Bergstrom. He was raised and educated in Somers and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943. He proudly served aboard the U.S.S. Haggard until his discharge in 1946.

On June 6, 1946 he married his wife of 62 years in Kalispell. He was a locomotive engineer for the Great Northern Railroad for 35 years. Upon their retirement they traveled extensively and made lifelong friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife Joyce; grandsons, Mark and Mason Robison; sister, Dorothy Graham; and brother, Rudy Bergstrom.

He is survived by his daughters, Linda and Ron Olson, Nancy and Ron Robison, and son Bruce Bergstrom; and grandchildren, Todd Olson, Tim Olson, Heidi Freeman and Michael Robison. He adored his nine great-grandchildren and loved watching their activities whenever possible.

He was a family member of the BeeHive Assisted Living facility in Columbia Falls where he resided for the past two years. No services are planned at this time at his request. At his instruction “He came, he saw, he went” was all he felt necessary to say. Interment will take place in the spring.
