Food bank carries on with Munski-Feenan tradition

In keeping with March’s designation as National Nutrition Month, North Valley Food Bank is promoting a Crock-Pot meal that can be put together ahead of time in preparation for a hot meal the family can enjoy together at day’s end.

This is an extension of an idea that our founder, June Munski-Feenan, put together three years ago. It is felt that eating a meal together gives families opportunities to talk about day’s events, issues and possible problems children may be dealing with such as bullying or other stressors.

Our food bank provides a crockpot, recipes and the main ingredients needed to complete the meal. This has been well received in the past and is a benefit made possible because of a community outreach grant received from the Whitefish Community Foundation.

Losing June has been difficult on many levels, but she had complete confidence in our crew. Our volunteers have done an amazing job in getting us settled, but most importantly our client families are receiving their supplemental food without interruption. We sincerely appreciate the continued support of the great people of Whitefish.

Please keep in mind we are now open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday and always need non perishable food items such as peanut butter or tuna. Our food distribution day is every Thursday from noon to 2 p.m.
