Alternatives to Common Core

The implementation of Common Core’s standardized testing procedures have become a detriment to students in Montana.

If you’re not a parent, or your children have finished school, why should you care? Because as taxpayers we are paying for it. Didn’t we learn anything from the failure that was No Child Left Behind?

I was truly impressed with the common sense alternatives to Common Core offered by House candidate Matt Rosendale at our meet and greet in Polson. He pointed out how a one-size-fits-all approach to our public education system not only wastes taxpayers money, it will stifle opportunities for creativity and innovation for both students and teachers.

Rosendale also mentioned how if federal bureaucrats control students curriculum, teaching the U.S. Constitution will become a thing of the past. The development of this standardized federal education should not fall on the backs of our students and taxpayers.

Politicians do not understand the basic principles of pedagogy. Its time to take our childrens education out of the hands of federal bureaucrats and put it back into the control of parents and local educators. We know what’s best for their future.
