Solid pitching, key hits and a few lucky breaks helped the Glacier Twins A pick up a 10-8 win Saturday over the Bitterroot Red Sox. The victory gave the Twins (18-7-1) a split in the double header at Memorial Field.

Tied at 8-8 in the bottom of the seventh of game 2, Colton Gove hit a walk-off double to center field to score the winning runs.

Pitcher AJ Wetsch started the inning with a double to center. Austin Robbins then reached on an infield grounder, advancing Wetsch to third.

In a wild sequence, Ty Murphy reached on a fielder’s choice to load the bases, while both Wetsch and Murphy avoided getting caught in pickles. Wetsch was cornered between home and third, but slid head-first back to third to avoid the tag. Murphy was then cornered between second and third, but managed to get back to base safely.

Gove then stepped up and ripped a shot to center to bring home two runs and seal the win. Gove finished 2 for 4 with four RBI.

Bitterroot tied the game in the sixth inning, but Glacier shut down the rally, getting six of the last seven batters out. Wetsch picked up the victory on the mound.

Kyler Howke was 3 for 4 with an RBI, while Jayce Fagerland and Vincent Smith both went 2 for 4 at the dish.

Game 1 went to Bitterroot 11-4. The Sox opened with a 6-1 advantage after three frames and added five more in the sixth.

Colten Parker and Tristin Steinwand both finished 2 for 3.
