The annual Whitefish Relay for Life cancer fundraiser is set for Friday evening to Saturday morning at Whitefish High School.

The event begins at 6 p.m. Friday at the Whitefish High School track. The survivors lap kicks off the evening followed by team laps. Dinner is served at 7 p.m., with local restaurants providing food.

About a dozen teams with 62 participants raise money to fight cancer by walking laps around the track through the evening and into the early morning hours.

Teams signed up include the Whitefish Credit Union Pink Ladies, Park Side Credit Union, Glacier Medical Associates, Whitefish Relay Committee, Whitefish Care and Rehab, North Valley Hospital, Team Grammie, American Bank, Purple Feet, Whitefish Soroptimist and Whitefish Walgreens.

On Friday, the Side Steppers line dancers will perform from 7-8 p.m. followed by My True Freedom from 8-10 p.m.

The Remember Ceremony will start at 10 p.m. with the lighting of the luminaria bags. Luminaria bags can be purchased at any of the team locations or during the event.

The relay wraps up Saturday morning with breakfast from North Valley Hospital at about 7 a.m., followed by the closing ceremony at 8 a.m.
