Black bears spotted in town

Monday, June 2

3:43 p.m. Report of a verbal disturbance on East 1st Street between exes involving a mutual child. The woman became jealous when the man received a call from his current girlfriend. The man left the car with the child due to the woman’s erratic behavior.

7:52 p.m. Report of slashed tires on U.S. 93 South.

9:05 p.m. A horrible stench that smelled like a “rotting body” was coming from the entrance to the Iron Horse neighborhood. Police found a dead deer in a swampy area.

9:39 p.m. Report of an assault with a weapon on Dakota Avenue. A caller told police someone was stabbed.

Tuesday, June 3

2:12 a.m. Report of a keyed vehicle on Central Avenue.

8:09 a.m. A contractor threatened to beat up a man on West 3rd Street.

9:54 p.m. An ex-employee was making threats at a business on East 1st Street.

Wednesday, June 4

9:45 a.m. Report of a stop sign at 5th and Geddes that no one pays any attention to.

3:03 p.m. A semi-truck clipped a light post downtown.

9:07 p.m. Report of teenagers smoking marijuana beneath a deck on Colorado Avenue.

11:10 p.m. A man was seen putting sliced meat and cheese in his sweater at a grocery on U.S. 93 South.

Thursday, June 5

12:45 p.m. Someone mowed down all the flowers at a house on State Park Road. It appeared to be a landlord / tenant dispute.

12:51 p.m. A student brought a throwing star to the middle school.

1:47 p.m. Bags of soil and mulch were stolen from a business downtown.

9:58 p.m. Report of a Columbia Avenue resident shooting a rifle or BB gun.

11:06 p.m. Golf clubs, two new BB guns, and a stereo were stolen from an unlocked garage on Kinnikinnik Circle.

Friday, June 6

1:58 a.m. Report of someone filming downtown who was handcuffed and released.

9:37 a.m. Report of a wallet stolen from a vehicle on Park Avenue.

10:58 a.m. Report of a laptop and other items stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Brimstone Drive.

Saturday, June 7

12:24 a.m. Report of teenagers trespassing on property along East 4th Street. The resident said the teens later returned and flipped him off. He believed they were trying to start something and felt threatened.

1:29 a.m. A man downtown reported that a girl slapped him in the face.

3 a.m. A man was sleeping it off inside his vehicle parked on Central Avenue. Police took his keys.

7:08 a.m. Traffic cones were knocked down on East 2nd Street, making the road seem like a one-way detour.

10:30 a.m. Report of a dog bite on Lupfer Avenue.

5:31 p.m. Report of a laptop and backpack stolen from a vehicle parked at a grocery store. The man called back to say the items may have been lost in his hotel room.

7:44 p.m. Report of a man who posted sexually explicit videos of his ex-girlfriend on Facebook. The woman wanted a restraining order against the man, but there was no proof any of the videos existed. The woman was going to call back if she found the videos.

8:34 p.m. Report of a woman who threatened to jump off the back porch of a Colorado Avenue apartment. Her son told her to go inside.

Sunday, June 8

10:23 a.m. A cub black bear on Shady River Lane was seen headed toward town. The bear was later spotted on Park Avenue.

1:11 p.m. Golf clubs were stolen from a garage on Vista Drive. The caller thought his friend was playing a joke on him, but now believes that is not the case.

8:58 p.m. A dog was attacked by another dog at the dog park.
