Road work angers commuters

Monday, June 30

8:49 a.m. Report of sexual assault on West 4th Street.

10:46 a.m. A cross and fence were vandalized on Wisconsin Avenue.

3:20 p.m. Suncrest Drive residents were forced to throw rocks at a charging labrador.

10:57 p.m. Two cars speeding 70 mph down Armory Road forced another car into the ditch.

11:23 p.m. Report of a man on West 7th Street who asked to sleep on a resident’s front porch. The resident locked the door, but the man kept ringing the doorbell. Police took the man to his house.

11:48 p.m. Report of fireworks on Iowa Avenue, Wisconsin Avenue and Houston Drive.

Tuesday, July 1

8:34 a.m. A group of teens stole energy drinks from a Coco-cola truck.

10:18 a.m. Police took a number of angry calls about the road work on Baker Avenue backing up traffic. One driver said he was stuck on Railway Street for 45 minutes. The traffic flagger said he was doing the best he could.

10:57 p.m. Fireworks reported on Wisconsin Avenue and Houston Drive.

Wednesday, July 2

2:50 p.m. Police disposed of a needle found at Depot Park.

7:20 p.m. A woman was arrested at Municipal Court for DUI.

10:27 p.m. Report of fireworks on Silverleaf Drive, Houston Point and O’Brien.

Thursday, July 3

12:51 p.m. Report of a blond woman in a bathing suit asking strange questions on Pine Avenue. She was taken to the hospital.

6:34 p.m. Multiple reports of a man dancing in the middle of Highway 40.

8:02 p.m. A man jumped out of a camper parked on Railway Street and yelled “Jesus loves you.”

9:53 p.m. A Taser was found in the restroom of a business on U.S. 93 South.

10:18 p.m. A caller said fireworks going off at the Kiddie Park made her dog poop inside her house. Other fireworks complaints from Columbia Avenue, East Lakeshore, Ridge Crest Ct., West 3rd Street, and Wisconsin Avenue.

11:48 p.m. A bald man with a goatee was trying to fight people at a bar downtown. He was possibly on parole.

Friday, July 4

3:08 p.m. Report of a fight near the footbridge at Riverside Park. The suspect was seen with a woman with a tattoo on her face.

4:39 p.m. A Doberman attacked a small dog at Depot Park.

6:37 p.m. Two girls stole a golf cart on Bay Point Drive to pick up a pizza. The cart was returned and the girls were counseled.

8:42 p.m. Report of a man who threatened his parents with a hammer. He was reportedly destroying the house on Somers Avenue.

10:06 p.m. Report of fireworks on Fir Avenue, Ramsey Avenue, Woodside Lane, Whitefish Avenue, Ashar Avenue, Waverly Place, Cedar Street, U.S. 93 South, Geddes Avenue

Saturday, July 5

9:01 a.m. Report of people staying in an RV parked on Dakota Avenue who dumped coffee grounds onto the street.

3:13 p.m. Tires were slashed on West 2nd Street.

3:21 p.m. Police disposed of a needle and other drug paraphernalia found on Somers Avenue.

10:56 p.m. Report of gun shots on Baker Avenue. The caller was sure they weren’t fireworks. He wanted police to drive by to make sure someone hadn’t been murdered.

11:03 p.m. Report of fireworks on Fox Farm Drive, Iowa Avenue, Geddes Avenue.

Sunday, July 6

9:55 a.m. A black bear was spotted on Marina Crest Lane.

10:34 p.m. Report of fireworks on Fox Farm Drive, Dakota Avenue, Minnesota Avenue, U.S. 93 South.
