Two former champions battled back to reclaim their titles at the 78th annual Fourth of July golf tournament last weekend at Whitefish Lake Golf Club.

Both the mens and womens winners trailed entering the back nine on the final day, but made big moves to seal their titles.

Defending champion Kramer Hickok of Westlake, Texas, sank a 25-foot birdie putt on No. 9 of the North Course to ignite his comeback. He went on to make five birdies in a row on the back nine.

His final round 69 was enough to win by three strokes. Hickok carded a three-day score of 72-65-69 — 206.

Kalispell’s Ryan Porch held a big lead going into Saturday's final round, but a tough round on the North Course dropped him into third overall.

Three Whitefish golfers finished in the top-10.

Kyle Mossfeldt carded a 75-68-75 — 218, while Reed Platke scored a 74-70-74 — 218, to finish tied for sixth place.

Mark Mance was a consistent 73-74-74 — 221 to finish in ninth.

Morgan Lee, of Great Falls, won the women’s tournament for the second time in three years.

She make up six shots on the final day to win by a single stroke over Dorsey Addicks of Gallatin Gateway.

Coral Schulz was the top Whitefish golfer, carding a 78-78-75 — 231 to finish in fifth place. Whitefish’s Chelsea Mossfeldt posted a 79-86-83 — 248 to place 11th.
