Police calls: Rash of smashed car windows

Monday, Jan. 6

7:30 a.m. A woman on River Lakes Parkway reported hearing a man yelling for help.

8:11 a.m. Report of a vehicle with a smashed window on Park Avenue. A wallet was missing from the console.

8:19 a.m. Report of a vehicle with a smashed window on East 7th Street. The car was ransacked but nothing was missing.

9 a.m. A vehicle on Park Avenue was rifled through.

12:36 p.m. A Suncrest Drive resident reported that his neighbor painted his fence without consent.

5:24 p.m. Report of a driver in a Ford Escort traveling down West Second Street in the wrong lane. The reporting caller said the driver was “going to kill someone” and that other vehicles were scrambling to get out of the way. The driver nearly caused seven head-on collisions, the caller said.

10:43 p.m. Report of an intoxicated man stumbling over the viaduct.

Tuesday, Jan. 7

11:33 a.m. A bucket full of fishing gear was reported stolen from the back of a pickup on Park Avenue.

5:12 p.m. An argument on a school bus between a girl in first grader and a girl in third grader reportedly led to one threatening to kill the other. The school was notified.

Wednesday, Jan. 8

9:15 a.m. Report of an envelope with $100 cash inside missing from a business on East 2nd Street. The money was a Christmas bonus for an employee.

9:43 a.m. A resident on Somers Avenue said her neighbor kept walking past her with a shovel and laughing loudly.

12:12 p.m. Police helped an elderly man get out of his driveway.

12:21 p.m. Report of a vehicle window smashed on Wisconsin Avenue.

Thursday, Jan. 9

9:04 a.m. Report of a somewhat vicious pit bull running loose at an apartment complex on Colorado Avenue.

Friday, Jan. 10

12:28 p.m. A vehicle slid into a street light on East 2nd Street.

4:03 p.m. Ongoing vandalism was reported at a home on Kalispell Avenue. Yard items were missing and last week a dog was tied to the house.

8:55 p.m. Report of a suspicious vacuum salesman going door-to-door on Columbia Avenue.

Saturday, Jan. 11

3:02 p.m. Report of a 2-year-old who locked himself in a vehicle on Somers Avenue.

3:17 p.m. A tree fell across East Lakeshore Drive.

Sunday, Jan. 12

12:11 a.m. A resident on Pine Avenue said he couldn’t sleep due to noise from city crews clearing snow in the area.
