In searching for their first win, the Whitefish girls basketball team found some offense.

The Lady Bulldogs put in a season-best 43 points Saturday in a close loss at Frenchtown. The Lady Broncs led from start to finish in the 59-43 win, but Whitefish coach Clint Peters said the game could mark a turning point for his team.

“I’m very happy with 43 points,” Peters said. “The girls are starting to play together. They’re all starting to know what their role is and accept them. It was exciting to watch.”

Whitefish cut down on turnovers and shot the ball with confidence, Peters said.

“Everything we had struggled with just clicked,” he said. “I hope it starts a new trend for us.”

Allie Schulz led the way with 13 points, Simone Craft had 9, and Katie Fyall and Haley Nicholson each chipped in 7.

“It was the best team effort I’ve seen,” Peters said. “That was the most impressive part.”

Whitefish (0-7, 0-2) plays at Eureka on Thursday and travels to Florence on Saturday.

“We want to carry our momentum and play team ball,” Peters said.
