ATP holds auditions for 'Pippin'
Alpine Theatre Project will hold auditions for its upcoming production of “Pippin” March 3 at 4:30 p.m. at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center. The production is the spring session of its Alpine Kids Theatre Project arts education program for local high school students.
Auditions are open to all local students from around the Flathead Valley ages 14-18. Students will not need to prepare anything, as material will be provided. However, students should be prepared to sing. ATP is also looking for students with any unique talents, such as magic tricks and acrobatics.
Rehearsals will be held Monday-Friday after school at Muldown Elementary School in Whitefish. Final performances of “Pippin” will be held April 25-27 at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center.
Currently enjoying a sold-out revival on Broadway, “Pippin” tells the tale of a young prince on a death-defying journey to find the meaning of his existence. Will he choose a happy but simple life? Or will he risk it all for a singular flash of glory?
With a score composed by Tony Award winning composer and lyricist, Stephen Schwartz, and original direction and choreography by the legendary Bob Fosse, “Pippin” is a fantasy fable for all time.
Founded in 2008, AKTP’s mission is to foster confidence and creativity in local students through work on a full theatrical production. Since that time, more than 900 students have participated in the program. An $80 tuition fee is required for participation, but full and partial scholarships are available to students who require assistance, thanks to donors of the AKTP Educational Fund.
Interested parents and students can contact Luke Walrath at the ATP office at 862-7469 or aktp@atpwhitefish.org.
