Bulldogs ready for divisional wrestling

Whitefish showed some fight at a trio of Northwestern A wrestling duals last week as the Bulldogs ready for the divisional tourament this weekend in Libby.

Whitefish opened the week by defeating Libby on Tuesday for its second team win of the season.

James Buckley won by major decision at the 113-pound weight class with a 17-2 victory over Ty Hight, and Matt Sampson pinned Braydon Thom at 152 to pace the Bulldogs.

On Friday, Whitefish dropped a pair of duals at home, 62-14 to Frenchtown and 48-24 to Polson.

The Dogs were in the mix against the Pirates.

At 113 pounds, Dillon Thorsteinson pinned Cody Hedeen in 55 seconds, and 138-pounder Skyler Bowerman pinned Alex Helegson at 5:30.

Bowerman scored a pair of takedowns and an escape before earning the pin in the third round.

152-pounder Sampson also picked up a win, pinning Ryan Burland in 36 seconds. Judah Prestegaard won by injury default at 145 pounds.
