Donald F. Kervin, Jr.

Donald F. Kervin, Jr., “Bumps,” died peacefully on Oct. 12, 2014 in Kalispell, surrounded by loved ones. Cause of death was lung cancer.

Don was born on June 26, 1937 in Olean, N.Y., to Donald F. Kervin Sr. and Lucille Garr Kervin. After attending school at Otto-Eldred High School, he served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps and four years in the U.S. Navy.

He married Margaret Ellen Bennett in 1960 and had four children.

Don was a man of many talents. During his lifetime he worked at various occupations, including salesman, plumber, Nevada Test Site technician, boiler room engineer at Turbodyne, and proprietor of a popular restaurant and bar, Skeeter’s Inn, in Eldred, Penn. Later in life he resided both in California and Montana to be close to his daughters. At the time of his death, he resided in Olney.

Don will be remembered for his caring ways and great sense of humor. He had family and friends whom he loved and loved him. He loved to kid around with his children and grandchildren, for whom he had favorite nicknames.

He spent cherished summers on a gold mining claim on Nelson Creek in California. He hunted and fished. Don loved the outdoors and was a summer camp host at Denali in Alaska, Bannack State Park and Thompson Chain Lakes in Montana. During all of these adventures he made audio tape recordings, which are now treasured by his loved ones.

Don is survived by his ex-wife, Margaret Kervin; and his children, daughter, Beth Kramer, son-in-law, Richard Kramer, son, Donald F. Kervin III, daughter-in-law, Karen Kervin, daughter, Amy Dixon, son-in-law, Ed Dixon, daughter, Jo Ellen Collette, son-in-law, Michael Collette. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Jo Novacek, brother-in-law, Al Novacek, half-brother, Terry Kervin, half-sister, Paula Anthony, half-sister, Kim Davenport, and grandchildren, Ashley Kervin, Meghan Kervin, Nevada Kramer, Marina Kramer and Lilly Collette, his niece, Laurie Novacek, nephew, Todd Novacek, niece, Emily Kervin and other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Don’s wish to be cremated was fulfilled. At his request, no memorial service is planned.
