Whitefish competitive freeskier Maggie Voisin will spend the remainder of this winter on the sideline after suffering a season-ending knee injury at a Dew Tour slopestyle event Dec. 13 in Breckenridge, Colo.

The 16-year-old tweaked her knee after a fall during her first run in the finals. She withdrew from the competition following the crash.

Voisin revealed in a Dec. 16 Facebook post that she tore the ACL in her left knee.

“I decided it was best to get an MRI and I found out I tore my ACL and a little more in my left knee,” she wrote.

Voisin injured her leg last winter during a training run prior to the womens slopestyle competition at the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. The injury kept her from competing in the Games.

At 15 years old, she was the youngest competitor on team USA.

Voisin says she expects to come back strong following her latest set back.

“I'm looking forward to a strong come back and many more years in this sport I truly love,” she wrote.
