Protesters stir complaints downtown

Monday, Aug. 11

8:46 a.m. A resident said her neighbor screamed at her and used inappropriate language. They were advised to get along.

9:43 a.m. People were speeding through an alley downtown to avoid road construction.

10:03 a.m. Report of stolen jewelry on Sawtooth Drive.

12:35 p.m. A woman appeared to be having a mental breakdown on Railway Street. She was screaming, walking back and forth, and putting clothes into a dumpster. Police contacted local churches to find her help.

1:07 p.m. Report of a young child who made inappropriate gestures toward a person on Wisconsin Avenue.

1:30 p.m. Report of a stolen wallet on Silverleaf Drive.

3:51 p.m. A vehicle stolen from Colorado Avenue was found near Long Beach, Calif.

4:04 p.m. Report of a stolen bicycle on U.S. 93 South.

4:14 p.m. A Whitefish man was arrested in Columbia Falls after allegedly slashing two vehicle tires.

9:29 p.m. A woman on Somers Avenue cursed at a man driving home. When he asked what the problem was, she flipped him off.

Tuesday, Aug. 12

12:31 a.m. A man in jean shorts and flip flops was lying in a parking lot behind a bar downtown.

2:07 a.m. Report of two men fighting downtown. A woman started throwing punches, then a fight broke out between two women. A man in a cowboy hat also got involved. Subjects involved decided to file statements with police when they were sober.

10:23 a.m. A dog was rescued after it became stuck between a fence and a neighbor’s house.

Wednesday, Aug. 13

12:13 p.m. Items stolen from an unlocked vehicle on East 2nd Street.

3:25 p.m. A man on vacation said he was the victim of a knockout game while at a bar downtown. He didn’t see who hit him but wanted police to know.

4:46 p.m. A transient with a banjo was asked to move along from downtown.

10:31 p.m. A man and woman were involved in a fight downtown.

11:29 p.m. A shirtless man was kicked out of a bar downtown for being too intoxicated. He was yelling and trying to start fights.

Thursday, Aug. 14

12:06 a.m. Report of a stolen bicycle on U.S. 93 South.

1:21 a.m. Report of a fight involving a woman in very high heels on East 8th Street. Someone was slapped and a bottle was broken.

8:57 p.m. An elderly man turned in his pistol to police. He said he was too old to be carrying the gun.

Friday, Aug. 15

12:33 a.m. Distraught wailing was heard on Lupfer Avenue. Someone yelled, “Someone stole my...” then there was more screaming.

12:51 a.m. An intoxicated man was trapped in the backyard of a house on Kalispell Avenue. The man was trying to figure out how to get out of the fenced yard.

9:53 a.m. Report of an SUV that was keyed on Central Avenue.

10:53 a.m. About 30 people were camping on River Lakes Drive.

5:25 p.m. Report of two men fighting on West Fourth Street. One man’s face and hands were reportedly bleeding.

6:06 p.m. Report of a man beating, kicking and punching his dog at the dog park.

10:36 p.m. An intoxicated woman reportedly stole her friend’s car.

Saturday, Aug. 16

2:04 a.m. A man said he was assaulted near the viaduct and that people might be following him.

2:13 a.m. A reported fight was just friends rolling around on the ground together.

2:51 a.m. A driver was seen banging his head against his steering wheel on U.S. 93 South. He was upset his car broke down again.

3 a.m. A Woodland Place resident heard banging pots and pans.

9:03 p.m. Multiple complaints of protesters screaming about Jesus and everyone going to hell on Central Avenue.

11:56 p.m. A group of people on Central Avenue were screaming profanities and possible racial slurs.

Sunday, Aug. 17

8:56 p.m. Boys were caught breaking into a building on U.S. 93 South.

11:36 p.m. Report of a loud party at the boat dock.
