The upcoming Whitefish High School football season is shaping up to be a ton of fun for Bulldog fans. The 2014 schedule features a match-up with rival Columbia Falls on homecoming, among other classic battles.

The Bulldogs open the season Aug. 30 with the traditional railroad game at Havre. Whitefish derailed the Blue Ponies at home last season, winning 45-27. The game this year is the only afternoon game on the Dogs' schedule.

Whitefish will be looking for playoff revenge when it hosts Belgrade Sept. 12. The Panthers ousted Whitefish in the quarter-finals last year 27-20 with a Hail Mary touchdown catch with two minutes to play.

The Dogs open league play Sept. 26 against rival Columbia Falls, which also happens to be Whitefish’s homecoming game. The Cats blanked Whitefish 21-0 last year on Columbia Falls’ homecoming night.

Whitefish travels to traditional conference power Polson Oct. 3, then hosts Park High Oct. 10. Frenchtown hosts the Dogs Oct. 17, and Whitefish wraps up the season at home with Libby Oct. 24.

The first round of the playoffs being Nov. 1, with the state championship set for Nov. 22.
