Virginia (Ginger) Louise Stevenson
Virginia (Ginger) Louise Stevenson, 83, died April 15 in Whitefish at Whitefish Care and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on June 11, 1930 in Tulsa, Oka. She also lived in Northern and Southern California. She trained as a registered nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital in San Francisco and later became a mental health RN.
Ginger was married to Axel Christiansen from 1952 to 1983, and raised their children Janie and Paul in Madera, Calif. In 1988 she married William Stevenson and they moved to Whitefish from Southern California in 1995.
Ginger leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law Jane and Bob Hughes of Auburn, Wash.; stepdaughter and son-in-law Suzanne and Daniel Cross of Washington, D.C.; and grandchildren, Chris Hughes of Auburn, Wash.,, Madeleine and Charles Cross of Washington, D.C., Corina Burgan of Grants Pass, Ore., Jacqueline and Elizabeth Burgan of Apache Junction, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; son, Paul Christiansen; granddaughter, SSG Danielle (Hughes) Crone; and stepdaughter, Carolyn Burgan.
Ginger, above all else, loved her family. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a kind heart. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Ginger was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Whitefish. Memorial services will be held in Whitefish at a future date. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or another favorite charity in Ginger’s memory.
