Juliette Louise Gauthier

Juliette Louise Gauthier, 100, died April 16 at The Springs at Whitefish.

She was the fourth of five children born to Absalom and Julienne Meilleur in Ronan on Oct. 30, 1913. In 1915, the family moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, but soon after both her parents died and she was adopted by Madeleine and Joseph De Mers.

Juliette grew up in Sandpoint and after graduating from high school began her 25 year career in personnel management with the Forest Service. She married Joseph Gauthier on Jan. 18, 1947 in Sandpoint and relocated the following year to Livingston where they raised four children.

Throughout life, Juliette pursued her many passions. She played the piano and organ, and enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, camping and traveling. She was accomplished at china painting and all types of needlework. Juliette was a Helena resident for 52 years prior to moving to The Springs at Whitefish in 2011.

She will be remembered for her many talents, her beautiful smile and her intense love of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Stephen (1956); husband, Joseph (1982); and oldest daughter, Yvonne (2007).

She is survived by her daughter, Jeanine Green (Ken); son, Michael Gauthier (Carol); five grandchildren, Brian Green, Juline Green Monasakanian, Scott Gauthier, Daniel Gauthier, Tom Gauthier; three great-grandchildren, Linnea, Elora, Joe and a fourth to arrive in April.

A prayer service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, in the Montana Room at The Springs at Whitefish. A funeral Mass and burial will be held this summer in Helena.

The family extends their appreciation for the loving care Juliette received from Dr. Eckstrom and her many caregivers at Hunter’s Pointe at Helena, The Springs at Whitefish, Comfort Keepers and Frontier Hospice. The family suggests memorials to Frontier Hospice in Kalispell.
