The Whitefish boys tennis team traveled east last week to face some stiff competition and weather at the Cut Bank Invitational.

The Bulldogs overcame “Biblical” winds and 40 degree temperatures to post solid results against a few eastern teams Whitefish rarely plays.

“It was good to play some of those teams we’ll see at state,” Whitefish coach Chris Schwaderer said.

On Friday the boys easily knocked off host Cut Bank 6-1.

The Dogs then took top-rated Polson to the wire before falling 3-4. Schwaderer was pleased to see his team hang with the defending state champs.

“Now, we need to learn how to close and finish teams,” Schwaderer said.

On Saturday, Whitefish fell 3-4 to Havre and 3-4 to Fergus.

The Dogs’ conference dual with Libby on Thursday was rained out.

Whitefish is back in action this week at the Bitterroot Invitational.
