Some Glacier Park Roads closed for winter

| October 29, 2013 10:21 AM

Several of Glacier National Park’s roads have closed down for the winter. Closed roads are treated as trails in winter — people can still hike, bike and ski on them as conditions warrant, but pets are not allowed.

The Two Medicine Road, the Inside North Fork Road from Fish Creek to Polebridge, the Cut Bank Road and the Chief Mountain Road are all closed for the winter.

The Many Glacier Road remains open. The Inside Road is still open to Bowman and Kintla lakes. The Going-to-the-Sun Road is closed on the east side at the foot of the St. Mary Lake. The Sun Road is open to Avalanche Creek on the west side.

Hiker-biker access on the west side of the road is to road camp on the west side and Rising Sun on the east side. Crews are working on the west side removing guardrails, and construction continues on the east side of the highway.
