KALISPELL, MONT. - On Thursday, June 13, the Hockaday Museum of Art invites visitors age 60+ to enjoy free admission to the Museum for Senior Tour & Tea Day.  Guests may enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, and cookies from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and one of the Museum's trained volunteer docents will greet guests at the front desk area for an educational tour that begins at 10:30 am.

Terrance Guardipee's Honoring the War Horses of the Blackfeet is new for guests' June visit.  Guardipee's collection of work was created exclusively for the Hockaday exhibition and features never-seen-before mixed media paintings and oil colored pencil ledger art.  Browning native Terrance Guardipee is renowned worldwide for creating a unique contemporary style of art that incorporates the depiction of traditional Blackfeet images, and was one of the first Native artists to revive the historic ledger art tradition.  Guardipee's signature "map collage" concept incorporates various antique documents such as maps, war rations, checks, certificates, in addition to single page ledgers.

Cheryl Ferrin's Blackfeet Portraits continues until June 22 and is a traveling exhibition of large scale quilt portraits.  Created with a vibrant palette of silk and cotton fabrics, these works feature living Blackfeet Nation artists.  Each quilt portrait is displayed with one piece of each of portrayed artist’s works.  Portrayed Blackfeet Nation artists include Dwight Billedeaux, David Dragonfly, Leonda Fast Buffalo Horse, Mari King, Jay Polite Laber, Valentina LaPier, Deborah Magee, Darrell Norman, Lyle Omeasoo, John I. Pepion, Leon A. Rattler and Francis Wall.

The first fully restored Glacier National Park mural remains on display in the Museum.  The 48" x 77" work was restored by Joe Abbrescia, Jr. and depicts the Grinnell Lake area in Many Glacier.

The familiar and inspiring Crown of the Continent Gallery showcases the Art and Artists of Glacier National Park in the Hockaday’s permanent collection.  Featured artists include John Fery, Nicholas Oberling, Mark Ogle, Leonard Lopp, O.C. Seltzer, C.M. Russell, T.J. Hileman, Ace Powell, and Adolph Heinze.

Senior Tour & Tea Day is sponsored by The Daily Inter Lake, Medical Arts Pharmacy and Sykes Pharmacy in Kalispell.
