Results of state music festival

The Western State Solo and Ensemble Festival for high school musicians was held in Missoula on May 3-4.

Judges rated performers as superior, excellent, good, fair or poor. In addition, judges provided verbal and written comments to help students improve.

Results from Columbia Falls High School included:

Superior band ensembles: Josh Potter and Wyatt Vanham, snare drum duet.

Excellent band ensembles: Will Flynn and Nikki Breivik, French horn duet; Will Flynn, Mackenzie Miller, Mary Gross and Kaitlyn Barnes, woodwind quartet.

Superior band solos: Chanel Intaratanod, baritone saxophone, oboe; Ada Brooks, euphonium.

Excellent band solo: Nikki Breivik, French horn; Will Flynn, French horn.

Superior vocal ensembles: Meredith Stolte and Mathew Erhart, duet; Micinze Christopherson and McKenna Emmerich, duet.

Excellent vocal ensemble: Amanda Morrison and Brooke Wilson, duet.

Superior vocal solo: Meredith Stolte, Mathew Erhart, Amanda Morrison and Ada Brooks.

Excellent vocal solo: Micah Sperry and Brooke Wilson.
