The Whitefish girls wrapped up their regular season on the tennis courts with a pair of solid wins last week at Libby and Columbia Falls to bump their overall dual record to 11-1. Coach Pat Dryden says Whitefish has proven itself to be one of the top dual teams in the state.

“We wouldn’t shy away from anyone in a dual,” he said.

He was impressed with how the girls battled from a slow start at Columbia Falls on Monday. He rattled off a laundry list of hurdles they overcame to get the victory.

“Everything that could go wrong, went wrong,” he said. “But we had the maturity to turn it around. We showed steady nerves and didn’t get rattled. I expect that from a veteran group.”

The top-rated team now turns their focus to the divisional meet set for this Thursday and Friday at FVCC and The Summit in Kalispell.

Lindsey Viscomi and Megan Danczyk have earned a No. 1 seed in doubles and are expected to make a strong run at a berth to the state tournament.

“Once they get rolling, they’re very confident,” Dryden said.

Kendall Sattler and Haley Craven earned the No. 3 seed after winning three matches to close the regular season. Caroline Carbo and Lauren Cain fill out the doubles roster.

The singles roster includes Ryan Chauner as a No. 2 seed, Sloan Ellis as a No. 4 seed, and Anna Peterson and Katie Fyall.

“I like the fitness level of our singles players,” Dryden said. “All four are real quick, and are counter punchers. They keep the ball in play and wear down the opponent.”
