Local law enforcement officials are reminding folks to be smart about their travels to and from the Brewfest and Dummy Derby this weekend at Whitefish Mountain Resort.

Officers from Whitefish will increase patrols on streets and highways this weekend.

“As winter comes to a close, the Winter Brewfest and Dummy Derby are an entertaining way to end the ski season,” said Whitefish Police Chief Bill Dial. “We don’t want anyone to act like a dummy and get behind the wheel when he or she shouldn’t.”

The extra patrols will focus on apprehension of impaired drivers.

“After an enjoyable day on the mountain, we don’t want a tragedy to happen,” said Dial. “It is critical to get impaired drivers off the road before they hurt someone.”

Dial suggested those planning to go to the Winter Brewfest and Dummy Derby should line up a sober driver before heading to the mountain. Safe transportation is also available with the S.N.O.W Bus, which will leave from the Mountain Mall at noon and return down the mountain later in the day. Check the schedule for more information.
