Backpack Program feeds hungry children

The Wave, Montana Food Bank Network and Glacier Bank have partnered on a fundraising campaign to help the Backpack Program provide food for local hungry kids. One in five Montana children struggle with hunger and Flathead County is higher than the state average.

With a $25,000 grant from the Angora Ridge Foundation, the Backpack Program was implemented in Whitefish and Columbia Falls in January 2012, providing food for 175 children every weekend.

Members of the community can help three ways: Wave members can donate $1 per month added to their dues; donations can be made at Glacier Bank locations; and people can donate $20 or more when they enroll at the Wave and have that deducted from the enrollment fees.
