Travelers can begin making camp site reservations at Montana’s state parks by booking online at http://stateparks.mt.gov or by calling 1-855-922-6768.

More than 500 camp sites per day can be reserved in 20 of Montana’s 54 state parks, 12 of which have electrical hookups. There are also several yurts, cabins and tepees available.

The camp site reservation season runs from Friday, May 17, through Sunday, Sept. 15. Each state park holds back about 25 percent of their camp sites for traditional first-come, first served camping visits during that time.

State parks officials recorded more than 10,000 camp site reservations last year. The top state parks were Tongue River Reservoir, Lewis and Clark Caverns, Big Arm and Cooney.

Basic camp site costs are $15 per night for residents and $23 per night for non-residents during the peak spring/summer season and another $10 to reserve a camp site online or by phone.

Reservations can be made at the following state parks: Bannack. Beavertail Hill, Big Arm, Black Sandy, Brush Lake, Cooney, Finley Point, Hell Creek, Lake Mary Ronan, Lewis and Clark Caverns, Logan, Makoshika, Missouri Headwaters, Placid Lake, Salmon Lake, Thompson Falls, Tongue River Reservoir, Wayfarers, West Shore and Whitefish Lake.

Nonresident visitors can purchase a state parks’ non-resident entrance pass that allows unlimited number of visits to Montana’s 54 state parks along with discounted camping fees. Valid for a full year, the pass costs $25 for the first vehicle and $20 for additional passes.
