The Lakeside Community Garden is expanding 25 feet to the north and adding 16 raised beds and one ADA compliant elevated bed.

Volunteers are needed and can easily lend a hand with this project as the tasks are varied and most can be done any time. Volunteers can drop by the garden any time and complete some part of the construction or join the final “Get R Done” work party on Saturday, April 20, from 12-4 p.m.

Volunteers are needed for the following:

• Boards need to be screwed together to become frames for the raised beds,

• Dirt needs to be brought to the frames,

• An elevated bed needs to be assembled,

• Fence post holes need to be dug,

• The compost pile needs to be stirred up and then spread along the bottom of the new beds,

• “Hot boxes” need to be made so gardeners can get a jump on the season,

• A custom sign and gate will also need to be installed.

To get involved, contact Dan Benesch at 871-5548 or beneschd1@gci.net.
