Comments are being taken for a proposal to improve safety on Montana 35 south of Bigfork near Camp Robber Court at the junction of S-209 and reference marker 30.2.

The reason for the project is because this section of highway has been identified by the Montana Department of Transportation as a “crash cluster.”

The proposed project includes installing guardrails and performing minor slope flattening on the west side of the highway and replacing the signs.

The project would begin at Camp Robber Court, at reference marker 29.4, and extend north for 0.8 miles ending approximately 0.5 miles south of junction S-209, at reference marker 30.2.

No new right-of-way is anticipated for this project and underground utility relocations are currently unknown.

The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2015, depending on completion of all project development activities and availability of funding.

For more information, contact Missoula District Administrator Ed Toavs at 523-5802 or Project Design Engineer Ben Nunnallee at 523-5846.
