About the time that the events in our community, country, or planet threaten to drive me into profound depths of jaded cynicism, along comes an experience that lifts my spirit, touches my soul and gives me hope for the future.

One such experience happened last weekend here in our little town and was provided by some truly remarkable young people in our community. I attended Whitefish High School’s production of “The Laramie Project” and it was a night that I will not soon forget. This fine group of young actors took a play that would be a challenge for any ensemble, let alone one so young, and absolutely rocked it!

The depth of feeling, sincerity of delivery, and quality of acting was amazing. The audience leaped to their feet at its conclusion and I am sure that there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.  Congratulations to Mrs. Blackburn and to all the actors and crew for bringing such a challenging and important story to our lives in such a beautiful way. Your powerful, remarkable performance touched all those who were lucky enough to be there. Well done and what else can be said but — BRAVO!
