City pool

The Columbia Falls city pool opened June 10 for the season. Season passes for an in-city family are $55, $32 for an individual and $25 for lap swim. Call Columbia Falls City Hall for a complete schedule with times and fees at (406) 892-4391.

GOP dance

The Flathead County Republican Women will hold a “Sentimental Journey” dinner-dance from 5:30 to 11 p.m. June 15 at the hangar of Ray and Ladeine Thompson at Glacier National Airport at hangar 7 off U.S. Highway 2. Event includes prime rib dinner, an auction and patriotic music by the Don Lawrence Orchestra as well as a display of vintage airplanes. Cost is $60 per person. Senior sale

The North Valley Senior Center, 205 Nucleus Avenue, in Columbia Falls, will hold their annual garage sale on Friday and Saturday, June 14-15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a fundraiser for the senior center. For more information, call 892-4087.

FVCC meeting

Flathead Valley Community College president Jane Karas will meet the public for a “community conversation” and breakfast at the Nite Owl restaurant in Columbia Falls on Tuesday, June 25, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.

Farmers market

The Columbia Falls Farmers Market starts June 13 at Pinewood Park in Columbia Falls from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It runs each Thursday at the same time throughout the summer.

Democrat Convention

The Flathead County Democratic Women are hosting the Montana Democratic Women’s Convention June 21-22 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kalispell. A host of speakers are planned. For more information and to register for the convention, go to wwwFCDemocraticWomen.com.

History talk

Columbia Falls Historical Society invites the public to attend a presentation by Kevin McCready on the history of the Great Northern Railroad in Columbia Falls.  His presentation will begin at 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 18, at the Montana Veterans’ Service Building. McCready is a well-known, local railroad historian.

Women's talk

The Columbia Falls Women’s Connection will be having the monthly luncheon on June 19 at 11:30 a.m. at the Teakettle Community Room on Nucleus Ave. Cost is $8 for program and meal. Naomi Morrison will talk about the Columbia Falls Community Garden. Colleen Keen from Wisconsin will share an inspirational life talk.

Save A Sister golf

The Buffalo Hill “Save A Sister” Ladies Invitational Golf Tournament will take place at Buffalo Hill Golf Course on Wednesday, June 26, with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start. Entry fee is $50 per person non-members and $40 for Kalispell Golf Association members. There will be four hole-in-one prizes. Women are encouraged to wear pink as all proceeds go toward the “Save A Sister” foundation, which provides breast cancer awareness through outreach and education and improve access for screening mammography.
