Cats break records in Hamilton, 2nd overall

The Columbia Falls swim team qualified 37 swimmers for the state meet this weekend in Sidney.

The Wildcats were led by Tyler Langton in the 9-10 boys age group and Bubba Loyda in the 11-12 boys age group — both had high-point honors.

Jessica Loyda in the 13-14 age group had high-point honors for the girls at the July 27-28 divisional meet in Hamilton. The team took second overall.

Langton won the 50-yard freestyle in 32.18, the 50 backstroke in 39.36 and the 50 butterfly in 40.19. Langton set a pool record in the 50 free.

Bubba Loyda won the 50 free in 28.29 and the 50 backstroke in 32.30. He set a pool record in the 50 backstroke.

Jessica Loyda won the 50 free in 27.87, the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:20.75 and the 100 free in 1:01.44. She set a record in the 50 free and 100 free.

The Wildcats had some other fine swims. Bryce Dunham won the 25-yard freestyle in 17.52, Zane McCallum won the 25-yard backstroke in 21.20, and the team won the 9-10 year old 100-yard medley with a time of 1:18.65.

The Wildcats also won the 11-12 year old boys 200-yard medley in 2:26.54 and the 200-yard freestyle relay in 2:03.05. Both wins were pool records.
