Barbara Ann Collier, 75, a native Texan, passed away July 17, 2013 in Whitefish.

For family and friends, a memorial service will be planned at a later date in Spearman, Texas. Family and friends will also be invited to spread Barbara’s ashes in Texas and Montana.

Barbara was born in Gainesville, Texas to Durward and Christine Lewter on Jan. 19, 1938. She was a graduate of Big Springs High School.

Barbara attended modeling school in Dallas and Texas Tech University. She worked as an office administrator for Lewter Feed Yard in Lubbock, Texas; Wheatheart Feedlot in Perryton, Texas; and Hansford Feedyard, Spearman, Texas.

Her father, Durward Lewter, a county agent from Big Spring in the 1950s, acquired the backing of well-known oilman Clint Murchison to build Lewter Feed Yard, then the largest in West Texas. She also assisted her husband, Robert (Bob) Collier, with Bandana Cattle Company, who had worked at all of the same feed yards.

Barbara was a member of the Methodist Church. She enjoyed fashion, movies, reading, travels to the mountains of New Mexico and Montana, and spending time with family and friends. Her blue eyes, smile and laughter will not be forgotten.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Robert who passed away 15 years ago on the same date of July 17; her parents, Durward and Christine; two brothers, Lile and Dean Lewter.

Barbara is survived by her son, Cary Collier (wife Kim) of Whitefish; daughter, Christy Brock (husband Todd) of Plano, Texas; five granddaughters, Cierra and Asia Collier of Whitefish, and Meg, Meryl and Mackenzie Brock of Plano.
