Quality rentals are tough to find

For 25 years I have called Whitefish my home, and for the past five, my husband and I have successfully built and managed a business in town.

We have a good client base in Whitefish, and we also have a new addition to our family. We never thought we would be forced out of the town we love, but our home went up for sale a few months ago.

As renters, we have been on a mad hunt for a new home but to no avail. With the influx of new people moving into Whitefish, decent rentals are nonexistent. Although I regularly check every rental website I can think of, many other people are doing the same, and there are not enough rentals to go around.

The proposed development on Second Street would provide much needed rentals for people like us who are looking for a good place to raise a family. The location is perfect for business owners and families because it is close to town and the schools.

Some see this project as a negative influence. Many people fight growth and change like these new developments because they see it as a threat, but isn’t a lack of growth even more of a threat for a town on the rebound from an economic slump?
