It took a few extra holes Saturday afternoon to determine the winners of the 77th annual 4th of July golf tournament at Whitefish Lake Golf Club.

Kramer Hickok, of Plano, Texas, scored a par on the second playoff hole to beat Tom Swanson, of Missoula, for the men’s title, while Lindsay Reeve of Missoula needed a bogey on the third playoff hole to edge Bozeman’s Amber Lundskog for the women’s crown.

Hickok and Swanson finished the 54-hole event at 10-under, which ties the tournament record set by Jeff Ballard of Billings in 2004.

Four Whitefish golfers fought their way into the mens top 15 on the final day of the tourney.

Former Bulldog standout and current Utah State golfer Reed Platke posted a three-day total of 216 to finish in sixth place overall.

Platke opened with a 6-under 66 to take the early lead. Friday, he posed a five-over 77, then bounced back on Saturday with a two-over 74.

Whitefish’s Shawn Tucker finished 10th with a three-day score of 219. Tucker played consistent golf throughout the weekend, posting a 72, 74 and 73.

Conor Rooney closed with a 70 to finish with a 220 and in 11th place.

After opening with a five-over 77, Mark Mance rallied with back-to-back scores of 73 to finish in 15th with a 223.

On the womens side, Whitefish’s Chelsea Ray snuck into the top 15 with a three-day total of 260. She opened with an 80 and 83, but had a rough round Saturday with a 97.
