Red Bus values

| January 31, 2013 7:01 AM

I wish to raise my voice in concern along with John Hagen and the Glacier Park Foundation regarding the recent proposed cuts to the Red Bus fleet.

The heart of your state, and indeed of people around the world, beats with tremendous affinity for these unique and wonderful elements of Glacier National Park.

As a proud jammer who had the wonderful privilege of driving Bus 90 throughout the summer of 2008, I can tell you that for so many passengers who rode my bus, the bus itself was as much an element of their Glacier visit as the biology, geology and overall cultural history of the Park.

Please do all you can to examine the best ways to keep this beloved fleet rolling. Their unparalleled history in your wonderful Park, the painstaking renovations completed just a few short years ago, and the numbers of people who come to Glacier ready to see this wonder of the world from a rolled back canvas top stand as ample testimony that these buses have earned their spot in the hearts and minds of “We the People.” Let another generation fall in love with these magnificent machines.
