GNP needs to reconsider

It is with great dismay that I recently learned of the National Park Service’ plans to start a process of eliminating the historic red “jammer” busses from Glacier National Park. Apparently this action has been initiated with little public input or consultation.

As a former jammer driver,  I can share with you that the buses are one of the most iconic and cherished features of Glacier National Park, one that many visitors wish to check off their list of “must see’s” at the park, almost as much as the shrinking glaciers and the peaks and waterfalls.  While I was driving, the buses and the drivers were considered ambassadors for the park, welcoming visitors throughout the park venues.  It would be impossible to imagine a picture of Glacier NP without the red busses being somewhere in it.

I submit that the National Park service must reconsider this plan, and certainly postpone any actions until suitable public input and discussion is held.  The historical importance and popularity of the buses must be considered before any action to remove them be undertaken.
