Let's rename the auditorium

Wednesday morning my coffee hour was interrupted by a phone call from Carol Atkinson. As if she didn’t have anything better to do, she was double checking the spelling of our children’s names.

Turns out that nameplates for seat buyers in the Whitefish Performing Arts Center are being readied for installation. So who does the footwork? Carol and Richard Atkinson. So who did the footwork through the years? Carol and Richard.

So why this letter? There are lots of venues that have better titles than “center” or “auditorium.” Think Guggenheim, Louvre, Kennedy, Scala, Getty, etc. I suggest the Whitefish Performing Arts Center be officially named, simply, The Atkinson.

Of course, Carol and Richard will say something like, “Gosh no, we just did it for fun.” Well, we can simply out vote them. They have only two votes.
