North Fork meeting

The interlocal agreement meeting for the North Fork, hosted by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Montana Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program, will take place in the Community Building in Glacier National Park’s headquarters area on Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants will include North Fork Compact, North Fork Land Owners Association, North Fork Preservation Association and North Fork Road Improvement Coalition, along with Flathead County commissioner, Flathead National Forest, Glacier National Park, U.S. Border Patrol, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, and U.S. Geological Survey. Syrup tapping

The Columbia Falls Library Association will present a free talk on maple syrup tapping by Kathie Lapcevic in the Teakettle Community Hall, 325 Nucleus Avenue, in Columbia Falls, on Thursday, Jan. 31, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Free meals

The Columbia Falls Community Kitchen will offer free hot meals in the basement of St. Richard’s Catholic Church from Monday through Thursday, Jan. 28 through 31, starting at 6 p.m.

Museum donation

The Museum at Central School in Kalispell recently received a $7,500 grant from the Plum Creek Foundation to assist with the current redesign and upgrade of their “History of the Flathead Valley” exhibition, which should be open to the public in July. Plum Creek granted the museum $9,000 in 2009 to assist with its “Wild Montana” exhibition.

Abbie Shelter

A fundraiser for the Abbie Shelter will be held at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish with a presentation of “The Vagina Monologues 2013” on Feb. 6 and 7, with doors and cocktail hour with designer purse silent auction at 6 p.m. and the performance at 7:30 p.m. A celebration and dance party will follow.

Scrabble tourney

Literacy Volunteers of Flathead County will mark their 25th anniversary with its annual team Scrabble tournament fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 9, with games at 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. at the Museum at Central School in Kalispell. Board opening

A seat is open on the Columbia Falls City-County Planning Board for a resident who lives outside the city limits but within the city’s planning jurisdictional area. The position is vacant through Dec. 31, 2014. A letter of interest, including name, address, daytime phone number and qualifications can be submitted to Flathead County Commissioners, 800 South Main, Room 302, Kalispell MT 59901-5420. Fire district

The deadline for filing petitions for the trustee position in the Flathead County Fire and Special District election is Feb. 21. The election will be held May 7. Forms may be picked up at the county election department, 800 South Main, Room 115, in Kalispell or online at http://flathead.mt.gov/election.

Disability workshop

Summit Independent Living Center will offer an eight-week “Working Well with a Disability” workshop in Columbia Falls on Wednesdays from 2 to 4 p.m. beginning Jan. 30. The workshop will be facilitated by Claudette Byrd-Rinck and Robin Idol. Both have personal experience working while managing a disability. Free CPR

The Summit Medical Fitness Center will host a free CPR class in Conference Room 3 at The Summit, in Kalispell, on Saturday, Feb. 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The noncertification course will include basic CPR for all ages. Registration is required. For more information, call 751-4500.

4-H fair

The Flathead County 2013 4-H Foods Fair will take place at the Flathead County Fairgrounds, in Kalispell, on Saturday, Jan. 26. Judging will begin at 10 a.m. 4-H members will show off their best culinary skills in more than 15 different categories, including main dishes, salads, pies, soups/stews/chowders, cookies, baked cakes from scratch, quick breads, appetizers, decorated cakes/cupcakes, side dishes, beverages and yeast breads. Free tax help

Flathead Valley Community College in partnership with Community Action Partnership will provide low-to-moderate income individuals, families and senior citizens with free tax assistance and preparation from Feb. 8 through April 12 on the FVCC campus, in the Arts and Technology Building, Room 236, on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call 756-3372.
