Boys and girls ages 10 to 14 will shoot it out on the courts during the third annual Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship on Saturday Jan. 26 at the Bigfork High School Gym.

The winner will progress from the local competition to districts for a shot at the state competition. International champions are announced by the Knights of Columbus international headquarters based on scores from state-level competitions.

All boys and girls 10 to 14 years old are eligible to participate and will compete in their respective age divisions. Last year more than 120,000 sharpshooters participated in over 3,600 local competitions.

There is no cost to participate, nor is there any waiting, simply show up with a parent or guardian to complete entrance forms before shooting free throws. The winning shooter will be contacted in the afternoon.

All contestants on the local level are recognized for their participation in the event. Participants are required to provide proof of age and written parental consent.

The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic family fraternal service organization with over 1.8 million members in 14,000 local councils. Last year, the organization donated over 70 million volunteer hours and $154 million to charitable and benevolent causes, sponsoring projects to benefit their church, councils, communities, culture of life, families and youth.
