Several free outdoor activities are scheduled throughout the area for Winter Trails Day on Saturday, Jan. 12.

The events were organized by the Flathead Community of Resource Educators, a network of individuals and organizations working together to increase awareness and understanding about the natural, historical and cultural resources of the Flathead Region.

One of the goals to introduce the fitness and social benefits of snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Each of the activities is suited for beginners and families and participants should dress warm and wear sturdy hiking shoes or boots.

For more information about local events and Winter Trails Day visit www.wintertrails.org.
