The Hockaday Museum of Art, 302 Second Avenue East, in Kalispell, recently acquired 15 Glacier National Park murals originally created to decorate lodges in the Park. The murals were discarded when the lodges were remodeled and were saved by Leona and Robert Brown, of West Glacier.

The murals were passed down to their granddaughter Leanne Goldhahn and her husband Alan. Leanne donated the murals to the Hockaday in memory of her grandparents. Kalispell artist Joe Abbrescia Jr. is donating conservation labor.

The first restored mural will be on display at the Hockaday from Jan. 10 through Feb. 23. An opening reception will be held Thursday, Jan. 10, from 5-7 p.m.

To donate to the mural restoration project, contact Hockaday executive director Liz Moss at 755-5268 or e-mail director@hockadaymuseum.org.
