Jackie Fuller is stepping down from her post as activities director at Whitefish High School.

Fuller submitted a letter of resignation this week to the school district offices stating that her decision to resign will allow more time for her to focus on her role as assistant principal at the high school. Fuller has been the activities director for the past six years.

“I feel a very strong commitment to Whitefish High School and want to continue to improve relationships between administration, staff and students,” she wrote. “I believe this can be gained by the ability to focus more time on our staff members and outside the classrooms.”

Her resignation will become effective at the end of the school year.

In 2011 Fuller took on the combined role as activity director and assistant principal. That same year she stepped down as head volleyball coach after 18 seasons leading the Lady Bulldogs.

“With the added expectations we have made on our administrators to fully develop our instructional leadership capacity, there have simply not been enough hours in the day,” district superintendent Kate Orozco said. “Jackie has done an excellent job of maintaining both positions, however, it truly has been the equivalent of working two full-time education jobs.”

“Jackie has done a tremendous job of connecting with the community, scheduling events, supporting students in extracurricular activities, and developing our coaching staff. I can’t imagine anyone tackling this Herculean set of responsibilities like she has.”

The district is still considering how to fill the AD vacancy. Fuller said she would be willing to train and work side-by-side with a new director through the spring season.
