Bigfork Middle School D.C. Trip seeks funding

Bigfork Middle School students are seeking donations for their annual trip to Washington D.C. on April 21. It costs $1,857 per student to go, and BMS has 38 students signed up and not all of them can afford it.

While touring the Capitol with the Close Up program, BMS students will debate with students from across the country, participate in workshops, and experience U.S. government in action.

To donate online directly to Bigfork’s Close Up trip to Washington D.C., go to www.closeup.com and click on the “Donors” link on the right side of the page, then go to “support a school,” then “select a school,” and enter MT017 for the school’s ID.

Swan River School eighth grade seeks funding for annual History Trip

Swan River School’s eighth grade class is seeking donations for their annual History Trip on May 21-24. During this trip, SRS students will visit historical sites around the state including: Helena, Deer Lodge, Virginia City and Yellowstone.

Donations will be put into a raffle, silent auction or spaghetti dinner. All the money raised from the donations will help pay for the students’ entrance fees to state parks, tours, meals, and lodging.

The spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be April 19 from 5-7 p.m. in the SRS cafeteria.

Pachyderm Club

The Glacier Pachyderm Club will meet on Friday at their new location, the Hilton Garden Inn on the south end of Kalispell, from noon to 1 p.m.

John Donoghue will speak about the devastation and impact of Hurricane Sandy on both the East Coast and the entire country, given the density of businesses found in the area most affected by the storm.

Friday, Feb. 22

Bill Gallagher, member of the Montana Public Service Commission and resident of Helena, will address the continuing and emerging issues facing the PSC and how interested voters might help those elected.

Auditions for Bigfork Community Players spring show

Auditions for the Bigfork Community Players’ next show, “West,” the sequel to last spring’s production, “Prairie Heart,” will be held on Feb. 17 and 18 at 7 p.m. in the Bethany Lutheran Church basement. No experience is necessary and no prepared material is needed. This play has singing in it, so some of those auditioning will be asked to sing.

“West” will be performed on April 12-14 and 19-21.

The script calls for seven principal characters — three women and four men, but an unlimited number of extras may be included.

Homemade Laundry Soap with ESP
