Countdown to 2014

There are plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy this New Year's Eve with a full slate of events happening around Whitefish and the Flathead Valley. Ring in 2014 on the slopes, at a live show in town or at the family-friendly First Night in Kalispell.

Whitefish Mountain Resort

• New Year’s Eve Rockin’ Rail Jam goes down just outside of the Ed & Mully’s restaurant in the village. The skier jam session begins at 5 p.m., snowboarders at 5:45 p.m., with the finals at 6:10 p.m.

• The Dash for Cash race begins at 5:30 p.m. between rail jam session. Free to enter. Run a wacky obstacle course for your chance to win $100. The event happens on the snow outside of Ed & Mully’s.

• A torchlight parade and fireworks display above Ed’s Run goes off after the rail jam at 6:30 p.m. Watch the show from Ed & Mully’s.

• Concinando plays at Ed & Mully’s from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. Absolutely free, all ages.

• Live music from 20 Grand at the Bierstube at 10 p.m. Pre-purchase tickets at the Bierstube for $25 — it will sell out. Call 862-1993. 21+ only.

First Night Flathead

First Night Flathead 2014 marks their 15th annual community New Year’s Eve gala with an alcohol-free and family-oriented entertainment program of art, live music and activities. Downtown Kalispell businesses and community venues will host a wide variety of performances from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Family activities at the Kalispell Center Mall from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Visit online at www.firstnightflathead.org.

Copper Mountain

Copper Mountain Band plays at the Great Northern Bar and Grill, Whitefish, 9 p.m. Call 862-2816.

Billy Angel

Billy Angel plays at the Boat Club as part of a New Year’s Eve Extravaganza. Live music, dancing and a delectable prix fixe menu.

My True Freedom

My True Freedom plays at the Stillwater Bar, Olney, 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

Sordid Seeds

Jameson and the Sordid Seeds and the Flip Wilsons play a New Year’s Eve Party at the Craggy Range, Whitefish, 10 p.m.

DJ Lenny Ducano

DJ Lenny Ducano will provide the soundtrack for New Year’s Eve at Casey’s Bar. Ticket includes entry, party favors and champagne toast at midnight. Doors open at 9 p.m., 21+ only. Tickets are $25 online / $35 at the door.

Exclusive 100

Crush Lounge in Whitefish will host their New Year’s Eve Exclusive 100 party with music by 1985 the band. Oyster bar, photo booth, sparkling toast at midnight. Tickets are $60.
