A Whitefish woman was killed in a 10-vehicle crash on I-90 near Spokane, Wash. Friday afternoon.

Jean Amidon, 52, died at the scene after her Honda Pilot was pinned between two semi trucks.

Amidon hit a semi truck stopped for a collision in the westbound lane east of Ritzville, Wash. She was then struck by another semi, which triggered a chain reaction that led to the pileup.

Washington State Patrol says the accident occurred in snowy conditions and that speed was a factor.

According to reports, four other drivers in the pileup were hospitalized. The accident blocked traffic for more than 12 hours.

Amidon helped launch the Glacier Academy of Languages last year. The foreign language school operates out of Foursquare Church in Whitefish.

Amidon served as the director of curriculum and business, and specialized in teaching Spanish.

She has four children.
