A slow start at Libby buried the Whitefish girls basketball team’s chances of putting a notch in the win column before the holiday break.

The Lady Loggers led 18-2 after one quarter, and extended their lead to 24 points at halftime.

Whitefish (0-4, 0-1) rallied late with an 18-point fourth quarter to narrow the final margin of 49-30.

Haley Nicholson led the scoring effort with 6 points. Allie Schulz and Katie Fyall each added five.

On Friday night, Class AA Glacier High School easily handled the Lady Dogs in a 61-5 victory. Whitefish was held scoreless in the second and fourth quarters.

Whitefish returns to the court Jan. 2 at home when they take on Bigfork at 6 p.m.
