Whitefish man arrested after standoff in Kalispell

One of two men who disappeared after being charged with felonies for allegedly trying to mail a package containing methamphetamine and oxycodone has been arrested following a standoff at a Kalispell motel.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry said his office developed information that 38-year-old Christopher Ferrari of Whitefish was in town Dec. 11.

“We chased the guy around most of the afternoon,” Curry said. “We were following a lot of rigs that he may or may not have been in.”

He said deputies were looking for Ferrari all afternoon, evening and night. Ferrari finally was located at about 2:45 a.m. on Dec. 12 at the Travelodge motel at Main and Idaho streets by deputies and members of the Northwest Drug Task Force.

“When we found him, we then called the city and asked for their special response team,” Curry said.

A Kalispell Police Department news release said Ferrari was contacted by phone, at which point he refused to come out and threatened to shoot anyone who tried to come in.

After nearly three hours, Ferrari exited the room and was taken into custody without further incident.

Ferrari and Scott Lee Davis, 39, of Kalispell, are each charged with felony conspiracy in the criminal distribution of dangerous drugs after FedEx employees intercepted a package containing one quarter ounce of a white crystalline substance believed to be meth, 26 pills identified as 10-milligram oxycodone and 20 pills identified as 20-milligram oxycodone.

Ferrari also is charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of dangerous drugs in a separate case, as well as a felony bail jumping charge after both he and Davis disappeared.

Davis still has not been located.
