Winter Carnival celebrates Sin City

The theme for the 55th annual Whitefish Winter Carnival is “Viva Las Vegas.”

Putting a twist on the infamous Sin City slogan, the carnival tagline is “What happens in Whitefish follows you home.”

Poster art by Jeff Arcel depicts King Ullr as Elvis “The King,” along with other traditional carnival characters surrounded by hints of Las Vegas lore, including Yetis depicted as Siegfried and Roy.

Carnival buttons — in four colors — are currently on sale at outlets around town.

The main Winter Carnival events, including the grand parade, are set for Feb. 8. Other events leading up to the big day include the Merrymaker on Jan. 11, King and Queen coronation and disco party on Jan. 17, Frey and Freya coronation on Jan. 24, ski joring on Jan. 25-26 and the Gala Party on Feb. 7.
