More than 100 women dressed in their most festive attire gathered around dozens of tables adorned with holiday colors and themed centerpieces during the second annual “Cup of Christmas Tea” social at the First Presbyterian Church in Whitefish.

A staff of men in crisp white shirts and Christmas ties acted as butlers for the day, keeping tea cups filled and cookies trays stocked.

To call Saturday’s celebration an extravaganza would hardly be an exaggeration.

Ramona Mock is credited for bringing the event to Whitefish, which is based on the book “A Cup of Christmas Tea” by Warren Hanson. Mock had celebrated in a similar fashion at her former church in Bel Air, California.

Each table is decorated by a hostess who brings a selection of finger foods to share with their guests. Many days and hours go into ironing linens and decorating the tables in preparation for the event.

During the celebration Saturday, the church choir led a selection of Christmas carols, followed by pastor Tim Dalstrom reading from the book “A Cup of Christmas Tea.”

Mock says the tea acts as an outreach which is attended by many in the community who are not members of the church.
