Tilda Green

Tilda “Tillie” Lydia (Ost) Green, 83, passed away June 30, 2013, at home.

She was born in 1930 in Zap, N.D., to Christ and Emma Ost. They moved to Whitefish  in 1933 after a fire claimed their home in Idaho.

She met Arthur Green, a boarder at the Ost house while working on Hungry Horse Dam, and they married on Oct. 29, 1949. They were happily married for 56 years, until Art’s passing in 2005.

She was a Cub and Girl Scout leader and helped form the Big Mountain Ski Patrol.

 Tillie is survived by her sons George and wife Karen, of Columbia Falls, and Greg Loberg, of Whitefish; daughter Renee and husband Steve, of Minnesota; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brothers Fred Ost and Margie, of Whitefish, and Leo Ost, of Whitefish; sisters Ida Grant, of Las Vegas, and LaVonna, of Washington; sister-in-law Millie Hansen, of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Art and Tillie’s lives will be held at the Stillwater Free Lutheran Church on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at  2 p.m. with fellowship and remembrance at the church immediately following the services. Burial will take place  at Whitefish Cemetery at 6 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Stillwater Free Lutheran Church, the Flathead County Animal Shelter or an organization of choice.
